Your role

As Operational Risk Officer, you manage non-financial risk and internal control on strategic, tactical and operational levels. You are the contact-person for one or more business departments. You specialize in one or more specific risk-types. Stay up-to-date with relevant laws, regulations and industry practices. Keen on learning the best methods for your specialization. You represent the ORM team in change risk assessments, product approvals and reviews.
In this role you will:
• Facilitate, advise, and challenge during risk & control (self) assessments.
• Perform control testing and conclude on design- and operating effectiveness.
• Assess reported risk events, challenge root-cause analysis, monitor and report on follow-up actions.
• Identify and implement improvements in risk management and internal control practices.
• Advise the organization regarding operational risks and processes (ad hoc and projects).
• Report to management and relevant committees on developments in the operational risk profile.
• Perform routine tasks related to administration of our GRC tool.
• Identify and follow-up on opportunities to improve risk-awareness.

Your team

The Risk department is at the heart of FMO and consists of three teams: Financial Risk Management, Regulatory Risk Management & Reporting and Operational Risk Management (ORM).
The ORM team currently consists of seven colleagues and will grow to nine in short term. The ORM team steers, monitors and facilitates the continuous improvement of risk management and internal control practices throughout FMO. The team has responsibilities in Enterprise Risk Management. They draft the quarterly integrated risk report. They also maintain the bank risk policy, risk taxonomy, and risk appetite.
Joining this team exposes you to a wide range of risk-related topics. It offers many opportunities to learn and expand your knowledge and experience. The working atmosphere is informal, international, with short communication lines.

Your background

A team worker who is pragmatic and will take initiatives that is you. Besides that you are analytical and have a client and quality-oriented attitude. Your strong interpersonal skills and cultural sensitivity enable you to advise and facilitate. You can also challenge internal clients while maintaining a good relationship.
Also, you possess:
• University degree and preferably a relevant professional certification in good standing.
• Between two and five years of experience with non-financial risk management and internal control.
• Familiarity with banking processes and products.
• Good communication skills and fluent in English and preferably also in Dutch.
